The summer season lights the grounds of Sydney Living Museums into a spectacular glow, and a family favourite for holiday activities! These school holidays kids can enjoy a range of educational and fun activities, many of which are FREE once you’ve paid for entry.
From musical gardens, interactive tours, to art play with clay, bush huts and paperplay, there’s something for kids of all ages and interests.

In January 2016, families can choose from:

Sydney Harbour Icons with LEGO® Bricks
Sydney Living Museums presents Sydney Harbour Icons with LEGO® Bricks, a world- premiere exhibition at theMuseum of Sydney that brings to life the spectacle of Sydney Harbour in colourful LEGO,
Cost: $15 adult, $15 child, $45 family (4 people), children 3 and under free
When: 7 November 2015 – 31 July 2016

Pleasure Gardens at Vaucluse House
The blossoming and serene Pleasure Garden at Vaucluse House will be transformed into a place of musical play for everyone to relax and listen to the harmonies that float through the gorgeous flora.
Cost: FREE
When: 7 – 26 January 2016, 8am – 8pm

You can also watch a magical musical performance by Genevieve Lacey on 8 January 2016, 6.30pm–8pm. Hear from the artist about her work, explore the installation and bear witness to a masterful live performance for $35!

Tiny Tastes
Tiny Tastes at Elizabeth Farm: is a fascinating historical place that’s worth the visit! Tiny Tastes at Vaucluse House: is one of Sydney’s few 19th-century colonial mansions still surrounded by its original gardens and wooded grounds.
Cost: $15, or $10 for members
When: January 11-22
Mondays 11 & 18 January: 10.30am–12pm and 1.30–3pm
Wednesdays 13 & 20 January: 10.30am–12pm and 1.30–3pm
Fridays 15 & 22 January: 10.30am–12pm and 1.30–3pm

Family Friendly Museum Tours
Unlock the secrets of fascinating houses, farms and gardens on the interactive tours for kids and their families at each of the house museums. Tours last 30-40 minutes and are perfect for kids aged 5 and over.
Cost: General $8, Concession/Child $4, Family (of four) $17
When: All tours are held from 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
An additional 10am tour is available at Elizabeth Bay House, Rose Seidler House and Vaucluse House

Paperplay: boats and fans
Cool down this summer by creating and decorating your own paper fan, or a decorative paper boat to set sail on the beach.
Cost: Free with museum entry

Bush Huts: Build a model hut
Explore the mysteries of Elizabeth Farm and Rouse Hill House, then use recycled materials, your imagination and images from colonial Australia to make a  bush hut to take home. This is a great activity for families and kids of all ages.
Cost: FREE with museum entry
When: Daily, from Saturday 19 December to Tuesday 26 January, 10am-4pm

Digital Farm Claymation
This one is especially fun! Make your own short film with Claymation! Kids will write a narrative, create clay characters, design backdrops, shoot & edit footage, add titles, music & sound effects. The special reveal will occur at 3.15pm, where parents can marvel at their kids creation.The finished film will be burnt onto a DVD to take home. The session will go for 6 hours so kids should bring their lunch.
