The Powerhouse Museum, in the Sydney suburb of Ultimo, is the place to be these Summer school holidays with loads of amazing exhibitions and digital workshops.

Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives (7yrs+)
Ancient Egypt comes to life with big expeditions for little archaeologists this summer! To celebrate the world premiere of Egyptian Mummies: Exploring Ancient Lives at the Powerhouse Museum, discoverers can search for lost artefacts in a giant dig pit then build like the Egyptians did.
When:       10 December 2016 – 25 April 2017; 10am to 5pm, last entry at 3.30pm
Cost:          $26 Adults; $15.30 Children (under 16yrs)

Mummy Movie Night – Prince of Egypt (7yrs+)
Get cosy for an evening at the Museum. Grab some popcorn and settle in to watch the Dreamworks classic Prince of Egypt. This evening includes an exclusive after-hours viewing of our new exhibition Egyptian Mummies: Exploring ancient lives. Dinner will be available for purchase at the Museum’s Café.
When:       10 December 2016 – 25 April 2017; 10am to 5pm, last entry at 3.30pm
Cost:          $25 Adults; $20 Children (under 16yrs); $80 Families

FREE EXHIBITIONS/ACTIVITIES
Dig Discover Zone: Step back in time and take on the role of a Dig Discoverer to reveal the lives of ancient Egyptians. Have your tools at the ready to unearth objects in a giant archaeological dig pit.
Experimentations: This exhibition shows how scientific and technological breakthroughs have answered questions like these and changed many of our ideas about everyday phenomena. Discover marvellous machines, get creative in the Tinkering Zone or get zapped in the electric chair.

WORKSHOPS
These Summer school holidays, the Powerhouse Museum as a range of digital & computing workshop fun for the kids. Here a few of the highlights.

Little Computer Scientist (6yrs): 1 day workshop
Step into the exciting world of computer science with three activities covering a wide range of topics. Play games to learn computer software concepts, develop problem solving solving skills with unplugged activities and control physical components like lights and buzzers using the ThinkerShield.

Stop Motion Extravaganza (7-11yrs)
Get busy with paper and clay! Create your own characters and bring them to life.
When:     19 December 2016 & 6 January 2017; 10am-4pm
Cost:         $100/Child; $90/MAAS Member Child

Animated Cartoon Creator (9-12yrs): 1 day workshop
Learn the tricks of making believable animation using Surface Books.
When:     21 December 2016 & 23 January 2017; 10am-4pm
Cost:         $100/Child; $90/MAAS Member Child

Masterclass in Game Design (9-12yrs): 1 day workshop
Craft engaging levels using the first principles of game development.
When:     6 January 2017; 10am-4pm
Cost:         $100/Child; $90/MAAS Member Child

360 Video Movie Making (11-13yrs)
Design an immersive experience using 360 degrees cameras and VR headsets.
When:     16-18 January 2017; 10am-4pm
Cost:         $180/Child; $160/MAAS Member Child

No need to make lunch these holidays: pre-purchase one of the new lunch packs instead for only $10!
Please note there will be no access to the cafe on site during The Lab workshops. Lunches will need to be provided or pre-ordered.
