Embark on a captivating space journey in the endless beauty of the World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains skies. This unforgettable tour features Australia’s spectacular night sky away from the city lights. A wonderful opportunity to experience the Southern Sky and its celestial wonders only visible from the Southern hemisphere.

It is a fun, interactive tour, starting the tour with a quick introduction of the history of the Blue Mountains through time and children stories. You'll follow with tips and hacks on how to identify stars and constellations with the naked-eye and introduce you to the celestial dance of planets, satellites, navigation, the Universe, our home Galaxy and beyond. You will then observe through the professional-grade telescope objects such as (depending on the time of year and night):

  • The Moon and its craters and seas
  • Saturn’s rings
  • The moons of Jupiter
  • Mars & Venus
  • The Orion Nebula
  • Star clusters
  • Double & triple stars
  • Deep space objects such as galaxies and our fabulous
  • Milky Way
  • Shooting stars if you are lucky!

Your guide Dimitri has a PhD in Astrophysics and 10+ years experience in Astronomy tours (Sydney Observatory, Mt John Observatory, ultra luxury resort Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley) and is specialised in children tours.

You will also enjoy hot chocolates and organic teas.  This unique skywatching night with a professional telescope is a perfect family experience!

It is easy to access for everyone, wheelchair friendly, there is plenty of parking, it is accessible by public transport with train and bus. Toilets are nearby, there is also a large wooden bench if you want to sit down or lay down with the binoculars. It offers a fabulous sunset vista at the lookout!

Where:     Meet at Wentworth Falls Picnic area, at the Jamison lookout.
When:      Friday and Saturday night tours start after the sun sets, at 6.30pm in September, 7pm in October, 7.30pm in November and 8pm in December.
Cost:        $60 per person for 1h30 tour. Family friendly packages with 25% discount. $54 per person for 6+ people. Max 10 people. Private tours $550 for max 10 people. Suitable for + 4 years old children.
