Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney in the heart of the city in Sydney, has a fantastic school holiday program for kids this April.

The Great Chocolate Mystery (5-12yrs)
Join Sherlock Block to solve the mystery of chocolate. With chocolate-tasting, cooking experiments and lots of audience participation, this is a deliciously funny time-travelling adventure!

Easter Chocolate Delight (5-12yrs)
Learn where chocolate and other delicious foods come from and make your own chocolate freckle eggs! Plus visit the chocolate exhibition in The Calyx to spot edible plants and propagate a chocolate mint plant to take home.

Plants+Play=Art (5-12yrs)
Kids will go on an art adventure to discover the Garden’s multitude of colours, shapes, textures and forms. Inspired by Bower Birds and Andy Goldsworthy, they’ll create ephemeral artworks with flowers, leaves and other natural materials. They’ll explore shadows and leaf shapes by making magical silhouette sun-prints.

Bushfood Hunt (5-12yrs)
Kids will explore the Cadi Jam Ora garden to learn all about how Aboriginal people use plants for food and medicine. They’ll hunt for bushfoods, play traditional Aboriginal games and make their own bush honey-sack treats.

Legends and Myths of the Celts and Vikings (7-12yrs)
Kids will go on a journey through the Garden with professional storyteller Jo Henwood, taking part in interactive, engaging stories. Through the myths and legends they’ll meet powerful gods, brave warriors and unlikely heroes — and make a mini Viking ship to take home.

Nature Art for Kids – Inclusive Activity
Kids will go on an art adventure to discover the Garden’s multitude of colours, shapes, textures and forms. Please note: This Inclusive Activity has been designed to support families with a child with additional needs and is a partnership program between the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and EarlyEd Early Childhood Intervention Service.

Garden Grubs (6-12yrs)
All-day adventures change every day to follow the children’s interests, and include using maps and compasses to navigate through the Garden, spotting wildlife (large and small), fun nature-play, art and craft, active games and hands-on planting and harvesting in the Yellowwood Learning Garden. Kids will explore the Garden with Autumn themes including ‘Bugs & Beasties’, ‘Garden Art’ and ‘Nature Explorers’.

GeoScience (6yrs+)
Enter the geology lab as we look at rock formation, minerals and more in a fun hands-on holiday workshop. Grow your own crystals, find out how volcanoes erupt, learn about earthquakes and more. Presented by the science team from Fizzics Education.

Plants for Life
Join Fizzics Educators to discover the hidden science of plants! In this hands-on biology workshop we look closely at how pollination, photosynthesis and more work in a practical session where you get to be the scientist.
