The Museum of Contemporary Art school holiday program offers a wonderful array of workshops, activities and events for kids of all ages inspired by the current exhibitions.

This Spring family programs are based around the new witty exhibition Aleks Danko: MY FELLOW AUS-TRA-ALIENS. Here’s the low-down on what to see and do.

CONTEMPORARY KIDSTHE HOUSE OF HA-HA-HA! (4 years+)


Get set for a hilarious school holiday happening! Take a walk on the wild side as you delve into Aleks Danko: MY FELLOW AUS-TRA-ALIENS. Play with words and everyday objects to create a collaborative installation!

JUNIOR ART SCHOOLMICROCOSM (5-8 years)


Create a microscopic alien world and then transport yourself there through our green screen studio. Dress up and act out fun scenarios in your bizarre new environment!

JUNIOR ART SCHOOLGULAY- MARRA – TO MAKE A FISH NET (5-13 years)


Inspired by the work of Aboriginal artists in the MCA Collection, investigate traditional weaving techniques and materials to create your very own fish and fish trap! Explore the art of weaving and catching fish through songs, games, Aboriginal mythology and language.

JUNIOR ART SCHOOLLITTLE BITS (9-13 years)


Learn the basics of electronics with Little Bits in this 2 hour workshop. Make your own brightly moving creations with no soldering, wiring, or programming required. Suitable for beginners and advanced makers and creators.

JUNIOR ART SCHOOLPOSTER ME (5-13 years)


Inspired by Aleks Danko: MY FELLOW AUS-TRA-ALIENS, experiment with various drawing techniques and hand generated typography to create an original poster artwork to hang at home.
