Celebrate 100 years of Gumnut Babies with a floor talk by curator Alison Wishart discussing May Gibbs and her creations at the State Library of New South Wales this January!

It’s 100 years today since the adorable Gumnut Babies found their way into the homes and hearts of Australians. The now classic characters became an instant hit when they first appeared on 5 December 1916 in a booklet published by Angus & Robertson.
To celebrate this anniversary the State Library is hosting a free display featuring original illustrations and beautiful reproductions from May Gibbs’ much-loved children’s books.
