Make sure you take a trip to the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney in Sydney's CBD this July school holidays for some great programs, activities and shows.

NAIDOC Aboriginal Language Treasure Hunt (5-12yrs): Celebrate NAIDOC in the Garden with our Aboriginal Language Treasure Hunt - an interactive learning experience linking langauge to country. Kids will learn to look at country through Aboriginal eyes as they explore Cadigal Country with our Aboriginal educators. They'll find rock engravings hidden within the bush tucker garden, joining words, tracks and trails of Australian animals and plants.

When:    Monday 3 - Friday 14 Jul; 10-11:30am or 12.30-2pm

Plants, Patterns and Printmaking (5-12yrs): Explore the beautiful All About Flowers display in The Calyx and the wider gardens for plants with amazing patterns, lines and symmetry. Children then get to try out two different printmaking techniques with leaves and flowers as well as decorate their own calico shopping bag to take home.

Garden Grubs (6-12yrs): Kids have lots of creative and active fun in the Garden with our professional, enthusiastic educators! All-day adventures change every day to follow the children's interests, and include using maps and compasses to navigate through the Garden, spotting wildlife (large and small), fun nature-play, art and craft, active games and hands-on planting and harvesting in the Yellowwood Learning Garden.

The King and Queen of Green (5-12yrs): The King and Queen of Green love the planet Earth and in particular things that are green! Princes and princesses of all ages will enjoy this fun and interactive outdoor theatre show. Laughter, music and a manic recycling relay race gets everyone involved and entertained! The show explores the topic of landfill and the simple things we can all do at home to reduce the amount of waste. The King and Queen then lead a mini recycling workshop to turn junk into crowns and other royally fabulous jewellery.

Quest (5-12yrs): Go on a journey through the Garden with professional storyteller Jo Henwood. There'll be obstacles and challenges to overcome, clues to unravel and puzzles to solve. Through interactive stories and hands-on fun, children will work together to be triumphant in their quest through the Garden!

Mini Aliens on Planet Plant (5-12yrs): Blast off to the desert world of the Succulent Garden to discover some of the weirdest plants on earth! We'll see giant Cacti and odd bumpy, lumpy succulents. Then we'll make a mini extra-terrestrial landscape in a terrarium to take home, complete with a resident alien!

Botanic Beats - Garden Disco (5-12yrs): Children will have a ball learning some funky dance moves, then enjoy a day-time disco complete with fun dance games! This program is led by experienced, vibrant dance-instructors and is designed to increase children’s confidence, fitness, coordination, self-esteem, creativity, social skills and risk-taking.
