Join the nautical fun at the Australian National Maritime Museum as they celebrate International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend with visiting vessels and creative activities for the whole family.
These special themed family fun Sundays take place twice a term with creative activities, lively performances, character tours and face painting.
It’s all happening this Sunday 21 August from 11am – 4pm.
Kids on Deck: Play, create and discover with art making, games and dress ups. Craft your own lighthouse model, make harbour prints, a tugboat sculpture or a souvenir badge. Experiment with reflectors and circuits to make a working light-keepers lantern or learn morse code ciphers.
Visiting working harbour vessels: Take a harbour cruise on Sydney Heritage Fleet’s historic motor launches Berrima and Harman. See the adorable open steam launch Choof N Puff as it toots, chugs and donuts its way around our basin.
Harbour Hoots Family Tours with Captain Shawn Scuttlebutt: Join character guide Captain Shawn Scuttlebutt for a fun filled family friendly tour and games around the museum’s harbour to discover the story behind our visiting vessels and our three lights- Cape Bowling Green, Carpentaria and the Tasman Light.
Lighthouse circus workshops and show: Flash, spin, twirl and hoop! Join in interactive circus arts workshops inspired by the movements of lighthouses and harbour vessels.
