Sydney kids and families are invited to the Jewels of the Sea Family Fun Day at the Australian National Maritime Museum this May!
Dive into the history and mythology of pearling, from dragons to moon drops and traders’ tales in lively and interactive performances, tours and creative activities. Enjoy face painting, bubble art displays, circus workshops, musical storytelling, character tours on pearling lugger John Louis, artmaking, games and more.
Kids On Deck, 11am-3pm - Dress ups, art making and games.
Face Painting and Glitter Tattoos, 11am – 3.30pm
Bubble Art Spectacular, 10.45am, 12pm & 1.15pm - Join in spectacular interactive demonstrations of bubble making and learn about the science behind bubbles.
Jewels of the Sea circus workshops and aerial displays, 11.30am, 12.45pm & 2pm - Marvel at daring and gravity-defying circus and join in interactive workshops in hooping and juggling
Myths of the Sea - Musical Storytelling, 2.30pm & 3.30pm - Beat, whistle, drum and chime as we adventure into the marvellous myths surrounding pearls and other treasures of the deep in musical storytelling performances with Drumbeats.
Character Tours with Captain Shaun Scuttlebutt, 12pm , 1.30 pm & 3pm - Take a lively family friendly tour into pearling history and our pearling lugger John Louis with character guide Captain Scuttlebutt.
