School holidays will go off with a bang this Spring at Sydney Observatory with loads of activities for every budding young scientist.
There are full day workshops, fascinating exhibitions as well as drop-in activities for all ages. Best of all, children under 16 years get FREE general admission!
Observatory Extravaganza: Big Bang (5-10yrs): 10am−1.30pm daily. $15/child. $13/members
Explore the science behind the ‘Big Bang’. Learn more about the origins of the universe from Observatory astronomers and hands-on experimenting, investigating and making.
Astronomical Space Hub (4yrs+): 10.30am–12pm daily. FREE
Explore the wonders of astronomy with hands-on activities on orbits, gravity and more, set in the beautiful Sydney Observatory grounds.
Midday Storytelling (all ages): 12pm. FREE
Let your mind expand with an astronomical story told by one of the Observatory’s educators.
Astronomical Afternoons (all ages): 1−4pm. FREE
Help create a collaborative artwork of star constellations, build a LEGO® space creation and use your powers of observation to learn more about the Observatory site.
Sydney Observatory Family Tours (all ages)
Discover the wonders of the night sky as a family as an Observatory guide takes you on a Planetarium tour, telescope viewing, 3D Space Theatre movie and hands-on astronomy.
Family Night Tours 6−8pm daily, $20 Adult, $16 Child, $60 Family; Family Day Tours 10am–5pm, hourly, $10 Adult, $8 Child, $26 Family
