Join the Australian National Maritime Museum for the biggest summer adventure yet! Dive into a Voyage to the Deep, become the driver in Going Places and travel back in time with Captain Nemo’s Nautilus. It’s fun for the whole family!
Start by exploring our exciting new fantasy world Voyage to the Deep! Dive in and grab the wheels of a steampunk submarine, hunt for treasure in a sunken shipwreck, explore a giant kelp forest, and crank the propellers to escape from a giant squid.
Next, raise your periscope and pack your bags for Going Places where transport has never been so much fun! Challenge your friends to a cycling race, climb into the cockpit and control your own aeroplane, fly a remote control airship and discover the inner workings of a fiery combustion engine.
Then, take your seats for Captain Nemo’s Nautilus – an action-packed live theatre performance, commencing on 4 January. Travel back in time with a cast of quirky characters inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas and take part in daring escapes from ravenous creatures, time travelling volcanoes and swirling ocean storms.
And if that’s not enough, climb aboard our real-life secret and stealthy submarine HMAS Onslow moored right outside the museum in Darling Harbour.
With handy facilities like: a takeaway kiosk, cafe, picnic benches and harbour-side wharf area, the Museum is hard to beat for summer fun with kids!

After your visit to the museum why don’t you enjoy the Waterfall Swing in Darling Harbour.
Popping up in Darling Harbour for the enjoyment of the young and not-so-young alike, Waterfall Swing is the ingenious high-tech creation of a team of artists, designers and engineers. The perfect summertime playset, this intelligent swing creates a cascading curtain of water that miraculously opens just in time to allow the rider to pass through.
Revisit your own childhood glee of flying through space on this giant swing-set, with the added thrill of narrowly missing getting drenched. Part of the Sydney Festival.
