Spark your imagination and creativity at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) this Spring School Holidays.

There is an exciting range of opportunities that inspire adults and children to discover contemporary art and participate in fun and playful learning experiences together.

Contemporary Kids: Ngarra Nura (4yrs+)

Ngarra Nura means ’Understanding Country’, in the language of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. Discover the diversity of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in the MCA Collection during this week-long art making extravaganza!

Explore how artists use materials from and inspired by the land to share stories through their artworks. With your family, work collaboratively to create a large-scale installation and share your own stories with other families!

Where:     Creative Studios, National Centre for Creative Learning
When:       Tuesday 27 September –Saturday 1 October 2016, 10.30am–4pm
Cost:          Drop-in, with a $5 donation per family welcomed

An Auslan interpreter will be joining the program on Wednesday 28 September; 11am-1pm.

Tactile Tours for Families (4-12yrs)

Let your imagination run wild during this NEW program for families! This inclusive experience celebrates thinking and seeing in new ways, encouraging storytelling, experimentation and collaboration along the way. Connect with artworks via fun gallery based activities and rummage through a collection of artist-made tactile objects, constructed with unusual natural and man-made materials.

Where:     National Centre for Creative Learning, Level 3
When:       Tuesday 4 – Sunday 9 October 2016; 10.30am & 1pm
Cost:          FREE, bookings essential

NEW to MCA: Bella Extension – A FREE access program to support inclusive learning for students and families.

Bella Extension is offered as a free supplement to any Artist Educator led school program or Kids and Families event. The aim of Bella Extension is to offer seamless support for inclusive class excursions and families with access needs participating in drop-in and booked family programs. Additional Bella trained Artist Educators are allocated upon request of a Bella Extension, providing individually tailored support for children and young people with learning and support needs within an inclusive whole class experience or Kids and Families event.

All Artist Educator led school programs and the entire suite of Kids and Families programs are eligible for a Bella Extension. Advance bookings are essential and the program is subject to availability.

Kids & Families: Bella Extensions are available for all booked and drop-in Kids & Families programs. Send an email to make a request.

Don’t Forget The Cafe: After all this creativity, your kids will be hungry. The MCA Cafe on the rooftop offers the best view in town and is very welcoming to children.
