Sydney kids and families are invited to Burramatta NAIDOC in Parramatta this July!
Celebrate over 50,000 years of culture at Burramatta NAIDOC. NAIDOC Burramatta 2017 aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity, linking people to their land and water. Immerse yourself in a family-friendly cultural experience!
There's a heap of exciting activities and events on the program including and opening ceremony and Welcome to Country, dancing, live music, historical and cultural talks, market stalls, a live eel display, healing tents, bushcraft, face painting, flower arranging, jewellery making, Aboriginal astronomy and stargazing and a heap more, including a spectacular closing fireworks display.
The importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages will be the focus of national celebrations marking NAIDOC Week 2017.
Where: Parramatta River, near Barry Wilde Bridge, Wild Avenue, Parramatta
When: Saturday 8 July 2017; 1pm-7pm
