Macquarie University Martial Arts children’s program caters to children from ages five to 16 years old of all ability levels. Classes take place year-round on a weekly basis to allow kids to continuously progress through the program. This flexible schedule also means you can join any time!

Build your confidence, discipline and focus in a fun, friendly and safe environment at the Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre.

Our programs use a progressive belt model, and instructors with more than 30 years of experience teach the classes, helping your children channel their inner Karate Kid.

Karate and Taekwondo
Because we offer karate and taekwondo on different days of the week, you can participate in one, the other or both! Fostering well-rounded students, these programs promote physical fitness, teach self-defence and build character. They introduce our martial artists in training to a different way of life through skills development and progression.

Classes
Beginner and intermediate classes in both the karate and taekwondo programs are available to children from ages five to 16. Our classes are casual and fun, but get ready, as they’ll be sure to test your physical, mental and emotional abilities, too!

As kids build up their confidence and advance to new belt levels, they’ll likewise develop a healthy respect for their teachers and fellow students, as well as control, compassion and compliance. They can then carry these positive attributes with them into other aspects of their lives, transforming these martial arts students into role models and leaders both at their schools and within their greater communities.

Family Karate Class
Our fun, family-friendly karate class combines game-oriented exercises with formal martial arts training. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, friend or guardian over the age of 16, this is an excellent chance for you to work – and play – with your children. Together, you’ll help them develop physical skills, such as coordination, flexibility, strength and endurance. Keep in mind that we have only a limited number of spots, so be sure to book soon – to guarantee participation and avoid disappointment.

Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a unique and exhilarating combination of combat techniques, self-defence, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy. Macquarie’s taekwondo classes develop skills by incorporating games, drills and passive demonstrations.
