ellaslist did a call-out for five ellaslist testers – families with kids of different ages to check out all the Wet’n’Wild action. They’ve shared their experiences to help you plan for your family day out!

Family with one child (6) – Nicole, Gregory Hills

How long did you spend at Wet’n’Wild? 5 hours

First Impression: It was very clean and well sign posted for where you needed to go.. The carpark wasn’t overly huge could see it filling up quickly on a warm day.

Describe your entry to the water park: Easy – we didn’t have to wait long to enter

Where did you set up your ‘base’ for your visit? Nickelodeon Beach.

What rides/attractions did you go on? Double BOWLSeye, Riptide, The Curler, and Typhoon, kid slides and splash park.

What were the adult’s favourite rides? Double BOWLSEye, The Curler & Riptide

What did you think of The Beach: It was good very well laid out lots of beach chairs and chairs and tables for people to sit at.

What did you think about dinosaur lagoon? It was very well done with the life like dinosaurs. There was a dinosaur show on at certain times we missed this as not keeping track of time. An announcement 10 mins before would of been helpful. it was nice to float around the lagoon on the tubes and we loved the rapids sections.

Your impressions of Wet’n’Wild junior (splash park and mini-rides)? This was a fantastic place. 2 of the slides were not operational which was a shame. I especially liked the safety aspect that the kids had to be let into the slide area where they didn’t need a tube to go down.

Did you use the Tap’n’Play reservation system? No

Where do you eat during your visit? We took our own food.

What were your impressions of the food and the food offerings at Wet’n’Wild Sydney? We didn’t buy any food there, we brought coffee which was reasonable $9.00 for 2 coffees… From the food prices that i saw it seemed average theme park food prices.

Your general feedback about the facilities – lockers, toilets, shelter etc: Lockers around the park is a great idea. We were a bit confused when we first came in as to where to go to pay for a locker. The small lockers will only hold personal items such as wallets phones etc.. There are none of these at the main gate. In the large locker we were able to put in our food bag and spare clothes. toilets and showers were clean and well positioned around the park.

Any changes / extra additions you would like to see at wet’n’Wild Sydney? Some small tables in the kids area, so that families could eat there without having to move away from the area. It would be good if they could bring in a spectators pass, so for instance we could go and Mr 6 could spend the time in the kids area and we could sit and relax and watch him without going on anything if we didn’t want to. Another waterpark area would be good… one of the multilevel structures with slides etc of it that all ages could use. Renting of beach toys for kids to play in on the sand so parents don’t have to bring them…

What aged kids would you recommend a visit to wet’n’wild : all ages!

How young is too young to take kids to Wet’n’wild Sydney and why?  Any age can go to wet n wild there is something for all ages and heights.

How did you ensure your kids of different ages got to have their age-specific fun at Wet’n’Wild? There was 2 rides that Mr 6 couldn’t go on so we didn’t go to that area. he was happy in the kids area and with the bigger slides next door.

What were the lines like at the rides? No lines

Would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild Sydney to your friends and/or family? Yes

What made you smile during your visit? Seeing Mr 6 having an fantastic time…

What made you frown/get angry during your visit? Nothing.

Is Wet’n’Wild a good value summer activity (taking into account the prices – $79.99 – adult $69.99 for juniors, under 4’s are free)?  For a day out is is expensive for a family. The season pass would be better value.

Would you return to Wet’n’Wild Sydney? We would but not just to pay for a day. We will consider season passes next year.

Your Verdict: We had a great day.. The weather was overcast so there were not many people there, if it had been hot our experience would have been a different one as we didn’t have to wait for any rides. Rating: 4/5

Two Kids under 5 (4 and 1) – Vanessa, Bronte

First Impression: Upon entry into the park my immediate thought was how big and spacious the park was. There were major slides in all corners of the park.

Describe your entry to the water park: Easy – we didn’t have to wait long to enter

Where did you set up ‘base’? Nickelodeon beach

How long did you spend at Wet’n’Wild? We spent 4 hours there

What rides/attractions did you try: Kid’s slides and splash park only. 

What were the adult’s favourite rides? Dinosaur lagoon river ride

What were the kids’ favourite rides/attractions? Kids splash park

What did you think about Dinosaur Lagoon? I enjoyed the lagoon itself. It was a calming ride along the river and great with younger kids, even my one year old enjoyed the trip along the river in our doughnut. However, the dinosaurs moved and roared and blew out steam at the same time, which scared my one year old. It was very life like and cool for older kids but I guess inappropriate for the really little ones.

What did you think about The Beach? The main beach was good as the waves came but got a little boring for my kids after a little while as they go to the beach often on a weekend so it didn’t stimulate them as much as I thought it would.

Your impressions of Wet’n’Wild junior? The mini rides and splash park were our highlight of the trip. Definitely a great variety of things to keep the kids entertained for a few hours!! You could stay there the whole day in that one area if you wanted to. It has many different slides and splash opportunities for the younger kids to enjoy. It’s also close to the cafe, locker and family change rooms so an excellent base to camp your stuff!

Did you use the tap’n’play reservation system? Yes

Where do you eat during your visit? We ate at nickelodeon beach but there we’re also many cafes situated near he main beach to dine at.

What were your impressions of the food and the food offerings at Wet’n’Wild Sydney? I was quite unimpressed with the food options actually. I generally offer my kids healthier options and there wasn’t that much of it on offer at wet n wild. In saying that, my expectations of good food offerings include that organic options should be available but as you would expect at a major attraction like this, there wouldn’t be any. Luckily I researched these options before I went and so I pre- packed a cooler bag full of our favourites so we didn’t have to waste time lining up for food to eat.

Did you bring your own food? Yes

Your general feedback about the facilities – lockers, toilets, shelter etc: Great sized family change rooms include a shower, bench and toilet and big enough for a pram to fit in!! A big plus. Lockers were $12 for a normal size locker and $10 for a half sized locker which I thought was reasonable except for the fact that the smaller lockers were a bit of a walk away from where we camped our gear.

Any changes / extra additions you would like to see at wet’n’Wild Sydney?  More outdoor showers near the main beach would be desirable, to wash the sand off.

What aged kids would you recommend a visit to wet’n’wild? Under 5s, primary and high school aged children.

How young is too young to take kids to Wet’n’wild Sydney and why? I think a baby under 6 months would be difficult but not impossible to take on a hot and busy day at wet n wild. The crowds and lines to access things with a young baby would be uncomfortable and stressful to say the least. If you have older kids to look after as well, then it would obviously be difficult to keep a watchful eye on the older kids.

How did you ensure your kids of different ages got to have their age-specific fun at Wet’n’Wild? We split up. One parent with an older child and one parent with the younger child and we swapped roles half way through to give us a change up of responsibility.

What were the lines like at the rides? No lines

Would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild Sydney to your friends and/or family? Yes

What made you smile during your visit? Seeing the kids have so much fun just running around and going ‘wild’. Also going down the kids slide with my one year old was definitely a smile/laugh moment.

What made you frown/get angry during your visit? The flies! So many of them. There were no readily accessible outdoor showers that were working. Some of the bathroom sinks were clogged up in the toilets near the main beach.

Is Wet’n’Wild a good value summer activity? Yes. Overall I think it is good value if you have older kids because they will get more out of the whole park and most likely stay there longer and not get tired as easily. If you have younger kids like mine, 1 and 4 they will tend to just navigate to one area only and get tired and/or moody!

Would you return to Wet’n’Wild Sydney?  Yes most definitely will return on an off -peak day. When my kids get older they will want to experience more rides and will hopefully do so on a quiet day when the lines won’t be long. We were lucky to go on a day when it wasn’t busy at all. We loved it.  Rating 4/5

Two Kids – big age difference (11 and 4) – Alicia, Carramamar

First Impression: Wow oh wow, driving down the street into Wet’n’Wild the excitemnet in the car went from one extreme to the next. Everyone was amazed by how big and colourful alla the slides really are. It was a beautiful moment.

Describe your entry to the water park: Easy- we didn’t have to wait long to enter.

Where did you set up ‘base’? The Beach.

Did you use the Tap’n’Play System? No

What rides/attractions did you use? 360Rush, Aqua Tube, Bombora, Double Bowlseye, H2GO Racers, Riptide, Half Pipe, T5, Tantrum, The Breakers, Tropical Cyclone, The Curler, Typhoon, kid’s slides & the splash park.

What were the adults’ favourite rides? The Aqua Tube was my personal favourite, I giggled like a little girl all the way down, I had so much fun. The Tantrum was another favourite I got to enjoy with the kids, you go from side to side in a big wave of water and get tossed out to the bottom, watching the kid’s faces was priceless.

What were the kid’s favourite rides/attractions: The Beach was a hit with all, especially once the waves started. They absolutely loved every single slide, the two girls had no fear and managed to do every slide at least twice- they had a ball together! My four year old cried as he was too short for all the big slides but still really enjoyed The Beach, Nickelodeon Beach and the Dinosaur Lagoon.

What did you think about Dinosaur Lagoon? Dinosaur Lagoon is the life, it was really relaxing to float around in a tube. This was one of my favourites.

What did you think about the Beach? We loved The Beach, lots of shade under the umbrellas and big beach chairs, not that we got to enjoy the chairs because the kids were too busy to sit down! The Beach is great for any age, our 3 kids really loved when the waves started, I think they stop and start about 10 minutes apart. This was my son’s favourite- he really enjoyed jumping over the waves which weren’t too deep at all.

Your Impression of Wet’n’Wild Junior? The splash park is good. The slides are good, but having to take little children on them are no good, they only allow adults to go on two of the slides with your child out of about 10 or so slides. The splash park is good- children can run around and get really wet and go crazy.

Where did you eat during your visit? The Beach

What were your impressions of the food and offerings at Wet’n’Wild Sydney? The food was okay, I wouldn’t recommend it. Four of us has burgers and chips and one had calamari and chips. The 11 year old absolutely loved the calamari and it did look nice, but did buy her a sausage roll due to the calamari being hard as a rock. We could not use the surf club restaurant due to it not being open, it looked like it has a lot of variety.

General feedback about the facilities: Loads of shelter a Nickelodeon beach- it is everywhere! The toilets are very clean and have sunscreen for use. Lockers are great to put wallets and car keys in.
Any changes/extra additions you would like to see at Wet’n’Wild Sydney? I would like to see everything open. The surf club restaurant was closed also the Billabong shop and all the carts that sell stuff around Wet’n’Wild were closed.

What ages would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild: All ages

How young is too young to take kids to Wet’n’Wild: I don’t think any ages are too young, all my children had a ball. Even babies can enjoy The Beach with their mother of father.

How did you ensure your kids of different ages got to have their age-specific fun? We had two adults so that made life a lot easier, but we alos moved around the park to different locations so the girls could go on all the slides and my son had a few choices at the different locations like The Beach and Dinosaur Lagoon.

What were the lines like? Short- I didn’t have to wait very long

Would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild to your family or friends? Yes

Three kids (2,6,7) – Julienne, Lidcombe

First Impression: Awesome – the kids were so excited

How Long did you spend at the park? More than 5 hours!

Describe your entry to the water park: Easy – we didn’t have to wait long to enter

Where did you set up your ‘base’ for your visit? We didn’t. We had taken the pram so that the baby could nap, and rolled it loaded up around with us. We also paid for a locker for valuables

What rides/attractions did you go on: Aqua Tube, H2GO Racers, Riptide, half pipe, tantrum, the breakers, tropical cyclone, typhoon, kids slides & splash park

What did you think of the Dinosaur Lagoon? We all loved floating around the lagoon, it was relaxing in the water and a great way to connect with the kids, splashing about all together.

What did you think of the Beach? We loved the beach. The big kids were out the back when the waves were on, diving under and jumping over. They loved running and jumping and splashing about in the shallows with their 2 year old sister. Sitting on the shores and having the waves splash over them.

What did you think of Wet’n’Wild Junior? We loved the area here for the 6 and 7 year old to be independent together going on the slides. They carried their rafts on their own, walked up together and were independent listening to instructions from the staff. They absolutely loved the opportunity to be all grown up and had soooo much fun here. Unfortunately 2 of the waterslides are being ?constructed or deconstructed at present so are unavailable for use by the kids, resulting in a slightly higher wait time for the other 2 rides.

Where do you eat during your visit? We ate near the beach from a variety of the food outlets.

What were your impressions of the food and the food offerings at Wet’n’Wild Sydney? The easy answer here is that it is expensive. But we went knowing that and were prepared to pay “whatever it cost”. The kids enjoyed a burger and chips and calamari and chips. Both portions were good size and they weren’t able to be consumed by the kids. I also think they didn’t wanted to eat too much in case they “threw up”. The grownups had a coffee each from the Village Green and ate a pie and a wrap. The frozen drinks were loved by the kids, however we weren’t informed that if you kept the cup you could refill it for a lower cost.

Did you bring your own food? We brought snacks for the kids, fruit, muesli bars and ate morning tea before we entered the gates

Your general feedback about the facilities – lockers, toilets, shelter etc? The staff at the Box office didn’t provide any information regarding purchasing a locker and this would have been helpful. We got to the lockers and then realised we had to go elsewhere to purchase it. However it was an easy process once we did that. During the course of the day the toilets we visited were clean with no issues. Plentiful toilet paper. However the Family shower and changeroom we used located at the entrance to the park was disgusting. There was no general purpose garbage bin so general rubbish was placed in the nappy bin, which I presume is only emptied periodically by the allocated hygiene company. It smelt horrible. My son was refusing to go in. The water didnt drain in the centre of the room and thus was a huge puddle which was filled with old manky soapy water.

What changes/extra additions would you like to see? It would be good to see a longer slowish waterslide the kids can get some sliding time on.

What aged kids would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild? Primary and high school aged children
What ages would you recommend visit Wet’n’Wild? I don’t think its worth it until the child is of height 110cm.

How did you ensure your kids of different ages got to have their age-specific fun at Wet’n’Wild? We found having one grown up with 2 kids over 110cm slightly difficult as some of the rides required only 2 people in the rafts and one of the kids had to stay at the bottom with 2 year old and other parent. With short rides queues this wasn’t an issue. Though I can imagine on a busy day it would be much harder. The kids were all able to play in the Junior section together, the 2 year old was able to go down with a parent in a raft or on the slides you sit on she could sit with a sibling. They loved being responsible enough to share it with her. When the older kids were on some of the big slides we took her through the Dinosaur Lagoon to look at the Dinosaurs and then back through the splash park. We were able to separate as they were right next to each other.

Would you recommend a visit to Wet’n’Wild Sydney to your friends and/or family? Yes

What made you smile during your visit? Our family time. We had an amazing time actually engaged with our kids, enjoying the same things they did! We loved seeing them having so much fun together and they really loved being with us, enjoying the slides with us, and the opportunity to grow their independence.

What made you frown/get angry during your visit? The change rooms. Nothing else.

Is Wet’n’Wild a good value summer activity? Look…. as a day activity I cant see the value in it. $300 for a family of 4… Yes its an awesome day and yes its lots of fun. I see the value in buying a season pass once you know as a family you can attend a couple of times in the season… especially seeing as they sell them for buy 3 get one free… and are only $99.

Would you return to Wet’n’Wild Sydney? Yes, we’d love to go. Last week we were lucky enough to have won auction for a family pass day. So we will use that. And we will consider a season pass next year. The kids are at a perfect age to love it. We love to do a day without the 2 year old so we can do all the rides together, but regardless we loved it.

Your Verdict: I think some of the staff need a little bit more training with regards to the small kids on the slides. Our son needed help getting onto the H2GO racers. And i needed to point this out to the staff in order to ensure that they would help him. Thank you so much for the opportunity to go. We had heaps of fun! Rating 5/5

Four Kids (13, 11, 6 and 3) – Susan, Blacktown

First impression: We were surprised at how much there was to do and see. Well laid out, clean and bright.

Describe your entry into the water park: Easy- we didn’t have to wait long.

Where did you set up your base? We started at Nick Jnr beach then moved to the main beach plus a locker.

How many hours did you stay for? We stayed for 5 hrs

What big rides did you go on? Everything except 360 rush and the H2Go Racers

What kids rides did you use? We went on Splash park and Jnr slides

What were the grown ups’ favourites? The Bombora and Double bowls-eye

What about the kid’s favourites? Mr 6 Riptide, Mr 11 -Tantrum, Misss 12 T5

What did you think of the Dinosaur Lagoon? Dinosaur lagoon was cool. We watched the show then big kids had a float around while Ms 2 and I checked out all the dinosaurs.

What did you think of The Beach? We loved the beach. All agreed we could spend a whole day there. Well patrolled, clean fun. Perfect for whole family. We used it as our base.

What did you think of Wet’n’Wild Jnr? We loved splash park and Jnr slides. Mini rides were confusing as big 2 were too big and littlest 2 were too small to go on alone or together.

Did you use Tap’n’play? No

Where did you eat? Diner behind the beach

Impressions of the food? Food was good but pricey for large family. Combo meals didn’t come with a drink. We didn’t check out other options or sweets. Had a nice coffee.

Did you bring own food? Only small packs of crisps and some fruit

The facilities? Facilities were great. We used a large locker. Loved the free sunscreen stations.

What would you like to see more of? Would be great to have water bubblers or bottle filling stations.

Who do your recommend visits Wet’n’Wild? All ages

How young is too young? Maybe toddlers up.

How did you ensure your children had their own age-specific fun? We started at Nick Jnr then set up at beach. One parent stayed with Ms 2 while the other took 6,11,12 on all the rides Mr 6 could go on, swapping grown up now and then. Then one adult kept two youngest while other went on big thrill rides with eldest two kids.

Did you have to wait for rides? Zero wait- no queues

Would you recommend Wet’n’Wild to family and friends? Definitely recommend to family /friends

What made you smile? Smiled constantly at the kids wide-eyed exhilaration

What made you angry/frown? No frowns or anger…it was very quiet..zero queues.May have felt differently if it was busier.

Is it a good value for money summer activity? It is good value when compared to say Luna Park but expensive for larger families.

Would you return? We would definitely go again but probably look for season pass. If you paid over $300 for a family day out and spent half that day in lines you would be pretty disappointed.

Your Verdict: Need certain level of fitness as with no queues there was no rest between climbing 8-9 flights of stairs taking the ride and going again. Hard work on the legs. We loved it and kids are super keen to go back! Rating 4/5

It would seem that Wet’n’Wild is the hottest place to be this summer for families! Our mums agreed that lines were short, and kids should make use of Nickelodeon splash park, Dinosaur Lagoon & the Beach.
