4. Festival 21 - Starting Young Kids Program
Have you ever thought about the way we grow, process, eat, purchase and waste food? And what harm this may be doing to our health, our social system, and the planet?
festival21 is a two-day celebration of the potential for food to inspire positive change. The Starting Young program a fun, interactive and exciting session presented by kids, for kids (and their parents!) where kids can learn, play and be inspired to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.
It’s easy to get caught up in simply getting a dinner on the table that everyone is willing to eat – let alone one that encourages the development of healthy habits. This session recognises that actions speak louder than words, and encourages kids to become involved and excited about where food comes from and why it’s so good!
Please note Starting Young is presented by kids, for kids so adults must be accompanied by children. If you would really love to attend without an accompanying child, please email [email protected]
Taking over the Meat Market, festival21 will equip Melbourne with a practical toolkit to make better food choices – via TED-style talks, music, hands-on workshops and demonstrations, and panel discussions, including kid-focused events and workshops. And of course, lots, and lots of food! Vendors on the day include STREAT, Free to Feed, The Social Food Project and Noisy Ritual. Fully Booked Women will also be hosting a bake sale, with all proceeds going to the Sandro Demaio Foundation to support future public health and nutrition projects. All food and packaging offered at festival21 will be 100% compostable or recyclable.
