Variety Livvi❜s Place Glenfield Wins National Award

  • All Ages

Glenfield's inclusive play space only opened in April 2021 but has already garnered a stellar reputation among Sydney kids and even more of a stellar reputation throughout the nation as the epic playground has earned the title of award-winning play space!

You might call us biased but we believe that most of Sydney's playgrounds are pretty awesome and deserve the badge of award-winning, but then again, we're not the experts! The real experts are the panellists at the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards who recently awarded Variety Livvi's Place Glenfield the title of Playground Design and Development Award.

Variety Livvi's Place in Glenfield opened in April 2021 and if the name sounds familiar it's because there are already quite a few Variety Livvi's Place playgrounds dotted throughout Sydney. Variety is one of Australia's most successful children's charities and each year Variety supports Australian families through grants for things like mobility equipment and wheelchairs, communication devices, education aides, medical items and services, and therapy services. Variety also support Australian children by partnering with local governments and building awesome inclusive play spaces.

Variety Livvi's Place in Glenfield is one of the newer Variety playgrounds and supports all abilities through its inclusive play offerings. Livvi's Place Glenfield was created by Campbelltown Council, Variety, the Touched by Olivia Foundation, and Place Design Group who helped design and build the award-winning playground.

Variety Livvi's Place Glenfield won the 2021 Playground Design and Development Award at the Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards for "Designs and developments that allow and encourage more children to play, have fun and be active."

Baz Richards from Place Design Group says, "We wanted to create a play space for children and youth, as well as parents, grandparents and carers who take their children to the space."

"Some people face barriers with mobility, travel and even access to public bathroom facilities, so we wanted to provide an all amenities play experience that would allow for all day stays to be a reality, regardless of ability."
