This Mum Built a ‘She Shed’ & Now We Want One

An Australian mum has built herself the ultimate escape – a ‘she shed’ with day bed, stylish décor and bookcase filled with her favourite reads.

The space, which cost $12,000 to build, is found within the garden of her Gold Coast home. And Lesa Lambert says it’s added an incredible $30,000 to the value of her house.

The mum-of-three shared the build on her Instagram, attracting 13,000 followers. Lesa says she built the she shed last year during lockdown so she had somewhere to escape.

Inside there’s a comfy day bed, bookshelves, bulk string lights, plants, slick décor pieces and vintage 100-year-old cottage doors. Best bit? The project took just one month to complete.

She confessed on Instagram that she now uses her she shed as a place to get creative, doing candle making or upcycling furniture. Or just to escape for a glass of wine and a read of her book.

And it seems the mum is hardly alone, with Australian backyard shed producer EasyShed saying its seen a 35 per cent spike in orders from Aussies desperate for more space in lockdown in the last few weeks.

Now, we'll admit, that's a lot more tempting than filling the backyard with a cubby house.
