Mums & Bubs
Topping the wish lists of plenty of mum's Mother's Days is to enjoy a decadent breakfast, brunch or lunch with the family. High Tea is also high on the list for Mums who want to enjoy some family time with a bit of indulgence thrown in.
ellaslist list has put together a list of some of the best venues to make your Mother's Day easy to organise and utterly delectable – be sure to tell the kids/partners to get in early and BOOK!
Best Breakfast & Brunch Venues
Take the morning off and have someone cook up breakfast for you with a quality espresso to kick start your Mother’s Day. Or better still, tell the kids you’ll be sleeping in and get them to take you out for brunch where a glass of champagne is surely obligatory at that hour of the day to reward yourself for all your great efforts as a Mum!
Check out ellaslist’s Sydney’s Best Brunches which are all family friendly and will all be open for Breakfast on Mother’s Day. We’d also recommend the Avalon on the Beach (pictured)- they’re hosting a breakfast for Mother’s Day early risers where menu items include seafood platters, antipasti boards, charcuterie boards and other delights.
There’s also special Mother’s day breakfasts and lunches at the Centennial Homestead, where menu items include artisan breads, fruit platters, oysters, fresh salads, cooked breakfasts and dessert delights including profiteroles and pavlovas.
At the Botanic Gardens Restaurant, spoil mum with brunch or lunch overlooking picturesque gardens. Menu items include roast lamb, pan friend barramundi, canapes and champagne on arrival- and even a kid's menu!
Best Lunch Venues
If you can’t remember the last time went out for a long Sunday lunch then there’s no better time to splurge than Mother’s Day! You can’t go wrong with any of our favourite family friendly pubs around Sydney. With plenty of room for prams and active children, play areas, kids menus and activity packs and cheap, hearty meals, our list contains some top spots for hungry mums and dads with little ones in tow.
If you prefer to immerse yourself in nature, head to one of these beautiful gardens to take in the splendour of Autumn colours – check for lunch availability at cafes in the area, or just use the lush grounds for a homemade picnic.
If you want to dine by the iconic waterfront at King Street Wharf, Casa Ristorante Italiano is just the ticket. Your mama will receive a free glass of sparkling on arrival as well as a special gift. Choose from a set menu or a la carte menu including hand crafted pastas, wood-fired pizzas and house-made breads and sauces. And so you can all relax, free parking will be offered with every set menu booking.
Also on the water is Blackbird Cafe at Darling Harbour. Mum receives a glass of sparkling on arrival as well as a special little gift to open as she overlooks Cockle Bay Wharf. Make it easy with a three course mothers day set menu or an amazing a la carte menu of modern Australian menu and signature cocktails. Book now for priority waterfront seating, and let mum have the day off she deserves.
For the full dining experience, we recommend the 3-course lunch (or breakfast) at the Pavilion on the Domain with views of the Sydney skyline. Menu items include beef tenderloin, corn fed chicken breakfast, roast salmon, and some very delicious desserts.
If views are what you’re most yearning for, then you can’t miss 360 Bar and Dining’s revolving views of Sydney to a 3-course lunch (complimentary glass of champagne and a cupcake for mum included), or the buffet at Sydney Tower that’s got a wide array of cuisine on offer from Chinese to Italian.
