  • Family

Just 50 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, Ipswich is an up-and-coming city in the Sunshine State with plenty of family fun on offer. Come rain or shine, you will find a great activity that the whole family can enjoy in Ipswich.

Queens Park

Spend the day at Queensland’s oldest park. Located not far from Ipswich city centre, Queens Park has a lot of different activities on offer. From sports such as tennis, bowls and croquet, to the Ipswich Nature Centre, Nerima Gardens (Japanese Gardens) and the Environmental Education Centre. There are also plenty of shady spots to set up for a picnic or a barbecue.

The Workshops Rail Museum

If your kids are into trains, there is no better day out than the Workshops Rail Museum. With fifteen different exhibits spanning the history of rail in Queensland, the whole family will learn something new. The museum also hosts events such as a pop-up Christmas market, torchlight tours, and a “Little Nippers” activity session for children aged two to six during the school term.

The Tivoli Drive-in Movies

Take a step back in time with a trip to the drive-in movies. Popular in the 70s, drive-in movies aren't as common now with the birth of huge cinema complexes, but that is what makes it all the more fun. Pack the car with snacks and treats and head to the Tivoli every Saturday from 7pm for a family night out in Ipswich.

Denmark Hill Conservation Park

Get out and about in the fresh air with a walk up to the White Water Tower on Denmark Hill for amazing views all the way to Brisbane CBD. If you have a dinosaur enthusiast in the family, this is certainly the place to go with actual dinosaur fossils having been discovered and the tracks preserved in the park. With short walking circuits and shady picnic areas, this is a great day out for kids of any age.
