Best Spring Festivals For Kids & Families In Sydney 2018

Welcome the blossoming of sweet-smelling flowers and the warm sunshine tickling your skin with a fabulous Spring festival! What better way to come out of hibernation than with food trucks, market stalls, carnival rides, and a plethora of live entertainment?
There is something for families of all ages at our top picks for festivals this Spring 2018, and they might even offer FREE entry.
1. Camden Festival
Camden comes alive in September with a variety of fun, family-friendly events activities. Some highlights include Picnic in the Park where families can enjoy a park feast, live entertainment, flower crown workshops and a jumping castle, as well as Kid's Fun Day full of roving entertainment, a magic show, an animal farm, hair spraying, a free BBQ lunch and lots more. 2. Orange Blossom Festival
In 2018, The Hills Shire Orange Blossom Festival will continue to grow with a month of community focused events and activities and the Hills Shire Council’s festival day at the centre. All of The Hills Shire Orange Blossom Festival events will be run by local community groups offering a diverse range of activities for locals to enjoy. 3. Spot On Children's Festival
Five full days of family entertainment in Parramatta during the September school holidays! There will be live theatre shows including Kaput and Big Bad Wolf, puppet shows, free courtyard activities, movie screenings, face painting, arts and crafts, and lots more. 4. Sydney Rides Festival
Back bigger and better in 2018! This four-week festival boasts more than 30 events celebrating bikes and family outdoor fun! At The Big Adventure in Sydney Park, there will be food trucks, free yoga, sports of all kinds, a petting zoo, BMX displays, and even a ballet performed on bikes! 5. Sydney International Festival of Films by Children
This is one for our little Spielberg's - a film festival for kids, made by kids. The Festival exists to give Australian children under 13 years the opportunity to screen their films in an international context alongside their peers from all over the world. 6. Emerge Festival
An exciting program of 30+ events has been announced for the much-loved Emerge Festival on Sydney's north shore. The highlight of the festival is StreetFair, the north shore's biggest street party! There will be a colourful street parade, market stalls, big bands, dance shows, kid's performances and so much more. More information here. 1 September- 5 October free & paid events available.
7. The St Ives Medieval Faire
St Ives Showground will be transformed into a world of grand tournaments, lavish food, and brave knights across 2 days! There will be market stalls, trained hawks and other birds of prey, knights in full armour competing in Grand Tournaments and lots more. More information here. 8. Real Festival
Taking over the Nepean River over two jam-packed days in November, the Real Festival brings Australia’s best theatre performers, artists and creative minds together in one stunning outdoor location. There’ll be jaw-dropping surprises and non-stop action at every corner of the riverbank, from water sports (kayaking, stand up paddle boarding) to endless kids' entertainment - think a silent disco, a trapeze and circus activities, and Erth’s acclaimed Dinosaur Zoo show! 9. Burwood Festival
One of the largest community events in the Inner West returns with the most delicious food, exciting performances and fun activities. 10. Auburn Festival
Auburn Festival is a free, fun day out for all ages. Join in on the street for great music including Australian Idol winner Stan Walker, circus acts, food and festival activities. Find out more here. Saturday , from 2pm to 6pm, free.
11. Brookie Show
The Northern Beaches' most family-friendly, fun-filled event, Brookie Show is back bigger and better than ever in October! The Show will feature a whole new emphasis on kid-friendly activities, inflatable rides, circus shows and main stage entertainment. And you can see the Trolls perform live! More info here. 12. The North Sydney Children's Festival
This year's theme is Play the Part! The festival explores the magic world of theatre and circus arts. Local creatives have come up with a program just right for children aged 12 years and under including - puppetry, music, printmaking, painting, drawing, movie sing-a-longs and more! 13. Strathfield Food and Jazz Festival
This is a buzzing event with bite! Featuring live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, a variety of food stalls, kids entertainment and the vibrant sounds of jazz, it's a must-do for every foodie. Put it in your calendar! Find out more here. Saturday 27 October, 2018, 11am-4pm, free.
14. Southern Highlands Food & Wine Festival
Right in the heart of Bowral, the Southern Highlands most innovative and award-winning cool climate wine makers, artisan food producers and creative chefs will be back again to showcase the regions’ abundance and diversity of food and wine. 15. Surry Hills Festival
Experience all there is to love in Surry Hills this September! There will be light projections and art installations great food, lantern making workshops and lots more across Ward Park, Devonshire Street, Shannon Reserve, Crown Street & various laneways. 16. Norton Street Italian Festa
A celebration of community spirit....with an Italian slant! There will be market stalls with great food, fashion & wine, and a long communal table for family and friends to get together. There are rides and fun activities for the ‘little kids’ and Auto Festa – Sydney’s largest collection of Italian cars – so the ‘big kids’ can dream about driving an Alfa Romeo, Ferrari or Lamborghini. 17. Floriade Festival of Spring
Fancy a three-hour trip down the highway? A fiesta of beautiful blooms and all-things Spring await you in Canberra! Australia's biggest celebration of spring is back with a bang for Floriade 2018. From mid-August to mid-September, Canberra comes to life for 30 days of floral displays, food stalls galore and a range of fun, family-friendly entertainment.
