We all know Darling Harbour is big on thrills, spills, laughter and excitement. If you’re needing to step into the slow lane and experience something a little more laid back, try one of these super chilled, tranquil and relaxing kids activities.

1. Experience the Dugongs

Visit two chilled out mermaids of the sea at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. Watch Pig and Wuru play in Dugong Island or join the 12.30pm Dugong Discovery Talk to hear their unique stories as rescued orphans. There are also glass bottom boat rides and behind the scenes tours for a super relaxing day.

2. Brekky With The Koalas

Yep, you heard it right! Enjoy brekky in a bush garden setting at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, for the most relaxing morning around. Escape the morning crowds and relax with a buffet breakfast next to these cute, iconic Australian creatures, followed by a Koala talk and a morning cuddle that’s just too good to be true.

3. A Peaceful Oasis of Green

Sit or stroll in the lush Chinese Garden of Friendship with its trickling waterfalls, splashing koi in ponds and exotic plants of all kinds. The perfect place to escape, breathe deep and enjoy a picnic. You may never want to leave, especially after a delicate lunch of green tea and dim sum at the Tea House, or some fish feeding.

4. Lounge on the Green

Just fancy a chill? Come and Lounge on the Village Green to the sounds of Darling Quarter’s resident DJ, close to some cool Kid’s Urban Design at the OPEN UP markets. Lounge on the Green runs daily from April 11-26, from noon to 4pm. The Kids Urban design is from April 14-17, and again from April 21-24, from noon till 5pm. You might find us there catching some zzz’s!

5. Buddha Festival

This one comes after the April school holidays, but sure is set to be relaxing! Buddha’s Birthday Festival at Tumbalong Park is a celebration of peace and harmony, where you can enjoy spiritual talks, meditation, and delicious vegetarian food. They’re also super accommodating to kids, so take your babies to the baby blessing ceremony, and the kid’s corner for some arts and crafts fun. The whole family will love the multicultural live performances and the food fair. See you there!
